The Capital Region Childhood Cancer Coalition was formed to unite the organizations and individuals in our area dedicated to childhood cancer. We want to raise awareness about childhood cancer and improve the experiences for children undergoing treatment. We hope to provide support to families while they are in the midst of this catastrophic illness.

By joining forces we will be able to streamline resources and make sure that there are not duplicative efforts. We are also able to fill any gaps that may exist in support for the families. In September we want to blanket our region with the gold ribbon pins representing our children, having events throughout the month in different areas of the capital region.

Because of our experiences with our children, we have a unique perspective on the process and we hope to share that information with the parents of children with cancer. We want to provide support – emotional, physical, and financial- to these families.

We are working toward an area in the hospital dedicated to pediatric oncology patients, staffed with trained chemo nurses so that the in-patient stays for these children will be as comfortable as possible. We also hope to be a resource to friends and family who want to help, but don’t know what to do.

The Capital Region Childhood Cancer Coalition is dedicated to helping the children in our area battling cancer. We will do all that we can to ease the burdens on these children and their families.
